'Wastage of Food Grains in India - A Criminal Offence!'

04:35 May 26, 2022
'You would surely have heard or read about food grains being wasted in various parts of India, especially in the state of Punjab, due to reasons such as lack of storage facilities, poor market dynamics and so on. I think this is nothing short of a criminal offense - in a country where there are millions who do not have access even to two square meals a day! I feel privatization of food grain / food crop acquisition processes & storage facilities is the right solution. Rest assured, I do not think this will lead to higher food grain or food crop prices; rather, the supply chain and overall efficiencies should ideally see prices coming down and also stabilizing at this lower level. In any case the government\'s FCI and PDS are doing a very poor job of what they should be doing - so why not get out of it altogether?'
