'I learned that some of the best Filipino food around New York (and a Red Ribbon Bakeshop) is in Bergenfield, New Jersey. After the experience, it\'s hard for me not to think that this is some of the best Filipino food in America. Bergenfield has a community of Filipinos and a cluster of Filipino restaurants and Pinoy grocery stores. I have been told by many people to try Kare Kare (a sort of Filipino peanut stew) and to make sure I have it with bagoong (shrimp paste). Thankfully it was on the menu so I tried Kare Kare. Honestly, the Filipino people never let me down, everything I have been suggested is delicious, unique and satisfying (as you can see by my reaction). Furthermore, I have been helped with how to eat Filipino food, not just what to eat, so I knew to dab a little bagoong on each bite along with white rice. This was a journey outside of New York City for Filipino cuisine but I\'m glad I went. I even finished with a ube ensaymada and some Filipino grocery shopping. I hope more people who have never tried Filipino food watch this video, head out to New Jersey and give it a go.
