'In this video, we cover how we transition our food plots from fawning cover to planting. We start out by using a cover crop roller to flatten and crush the stems on the rye and existing weeds. This allows for the residue to decompose while suppressing additional weeds. The next step we use is to spray the plots off. Traditionally we used 2 quarts per acre of glyphosate with 1 quart per acre of 2,4-d, and would have to wait 28 days because of the 2,4-d to plant certain species of our mix. This year we only used 2 quarts of glyphosate per acre(4 oz/gal) and a water conditioner(Crop oil is not a water conditioner) as usual. Stay tuned for part 4 where we lime, fertilize and plant the plot!! If using 2,4-DB(Butyrac 200) for stronger broadleaf control, use 1 quart/acre mixed with glyphosate. Crop oil can be added in this situation for burndown. If using 2,4-DB(Butyrac200) to rid broadleaves from Clover, DO NOT ADD CROP OIL TO THE TANK!! It will negatively affect your clover(per label instructions) When adding Clethodim 2e to the mix to give stronger grass control, us 6-16 oz/acre WITH crop oil added at the rate of 1 pint/100 gal spray mix.'
