'Problems With Our Small Food Plots'

'Come along as I show you our Northeastern Michigan annual Food plots. #foodplots #deerhunting #wildlifemanagement #deer It\'s late October and the deer and other wildlife are hammering our 5 food plots. Our 80 acres of private land is located in the forest miles from the nearest ag fields. Up here our food plots are the ag fields. We\'ve spent years clearing ground for trails to move around on the property and to create 5 food plots or killing plots as some call them. Our sandy soil has been a challenge. We\'ve used the whitetail institute\'s seed right from the start. Secret spot has done very well in our soils and our limited growing season. We\'ve done soil samples each year though the whitetail Institute. As time has gone on, We\'ve amended the soils and we feel like we are making progress. We planted a brassica last year called tall tine tubers that turned out okay, not great but okay. Check out this year\'s \"secret spot\" food plots after being heavily grazed. Feel free to leave a comment on what you\'re doing with your overgrazed food plots... and how you\'re dealing with sandy soils. 0:00 Annual Food Plots Planted 8-29-21 0:04 80 Acers in Northeastern Michigan 0:07 Very Sandy Soil 0:10 Miles of forest No Ag fields 0:40 They love the resin In plywood 1:09 All Sand I Wouldn\'t even call It soil 1:29 We\'ve spent years Clearing ground For trails & plots 2:31 We\'ve seen a big Increase in the # of Grouse, turkey and rabbits 2:54 Looking South 3:11 The deer are hammering Every food plot 3:16 The plots stay green Into December 3:43 The Experiment 4:16 For our sandy soil 4:34 Before we leave 5:07 Now on to the next Plot 5:15 On the Northwest end of the property 5:38 We took out about 8 stumps this Spring 6:12 Northeast end of The property 6:26 I\'m bow hunting In the morning 6:36 Elevated Blind overlooking The food plot 6:47 Set up for 2 hunters 7:41 Cover up the Plywood 8:48 See you on the Next video...
