The new Vande Bharat Express train will run between Gandhinagar and Mumbai, connecting the state capitals of Gujarat and Maharashtra. The train will run 6 days a week, except Sunday. The Vande Bharat train 20901, from Mumbai Central will depart at 6.10am to reach Gandhinagar at 12.30pm, officials said adding that the return train- 20902 to Mumbai will depart Gandhinagar Capital station at 2.05pm to reach Mumbai Central at 8.35pm. Officials also said that the train with 16 coaches has a seating capacity of 1,128 passengers and will halt at three stations: Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad before reaching Gandhinagar Capital station. The new Vande Bharat trains would have improved features including reclining seats, automatic fire sensors, CCTV cameras, on-demand content with wifi Facility, three-hour battery backup and GPS systems to make travelling safer and more comfortable. The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai has set a target of manufacturing 75 Vande Bharat trains by August 2023. The trains also has a photocatalytic ultraviolet air purification system in the roof-mounted package unit (RMPU) for air purification. The weight of the train has been reduced by 38 tonnes to 392 tonnes and it can continue functioning even with two feet of flood waters on the tracks. These are made of stainless steel. Due to less weight, the passengers would feel extra comfortable even at high speed. The Vande Bharat Express, also known as Train 18, is an Indian semi-high-speed, intercity, EMU train which is operated by the Indian Railways only on three prominent routes as of September 2022, one from New Delhi (NDLS) to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) the second one from New Delhi (NDLS) to Varanasi (BSB) and the third one is from Gandhinagar to Mumbai Central. It was designed and manufactured by Integral Coach Factory (ICF) at Perambur, Chennai under the Indian government\'s Make in India initiative, over a span of 18 months. The unit cost of the first rake was estimated at ₹100 crore (US$13 million), although it is expected to go down with subsequent production. At the original price, it is estimated to be 40% cheaper than a similar train imported from Europe. The train was launched on 15 February 2019, by which date a second unit will have been produced and readied for service. The service was named \'Vande Bharat Express\' on 27 January 2019. Vande Bharat Express is designed to be capable of running at a maximum speed of 160 kmph that can be touched in only 140 seconds for commercial purpose and it exceeded 180kmph during testing, but the tracks on which the train operates are not capable of supporting such high speeds, hence the train is operated at a maximum speed of 130 km/h (81 mph) In this context, it can be said that the Gatimaan Express, the fastest train of India as per maximum permissible speed operates at 160 km/h (99 mph). and Habibganj–New Delhi Shatabdi Express, the second fastest train of India as per maximum permissible speed has maximum permissible speed of 150 kmph. After four years of planning, manufacturing and trial run, Train 18 was finally inaugurated on 15 February 2019 and was ready to write a new chapter in the history books of Indian Railways, with the commercial services beginning from New Delhi to Varanasi. It was soon renamed to \'Vande Bharat Express\' by Railway minister. After the success of the first two services between New Delhi–Varanasi and New Delhi–Katra, the Railway Board gave the approval to ICF to manufacture 45 new Vande Bharat train sets by 2021-22 when India celebrates its 75 years of Independence.'
